  • Born in Buenos Aires, Ingrid Fliter began her piano studies in Argentina with Elizabeth Westerkamp and after moving to Europe, she continued her studies with Vitaly Margulis at the Musickhochschule in Freiburg, in Rome with Carlo Bruno and in Imola, at the Academy ‘Incontri col Maestro’ with Franco Scala and Boris Petrushansky. She also worked with and been mentored by Zoltan Kocsis, Louis Lortie, Alexander Lonquich and Alfred Brendel.

In addition to Fliter’s recording of Chopin’s Preludes which she released on Linn in 2014, Fliter recorded the Chopin Piano Concerti with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Jun Märkl and the disc attracted extensive critical acclaim. The Daily Telegraph wrote: “Ingrid Fliter was born to play Chopin…On this new Linn disc with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra she gives truly wondrous performances of the two piano concertos… Fliter has a natural, utterly compelling feel and flair for this music, its suppleness of pulse, its glow, its sparkle, its touching fragility and its forceful impetus.” Prior to this her two all-Chopin albums on EMI Classics received five-star reviews and were named ‘Editor’s Choice’ in both Gramophone and Classic FM magazines.

Fliter’s engagements in the 2015-16 season includes performances at Concertgebouw Amsterdam with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Hungarian National Philharmonic, Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi, and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. In North America, she also appears with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and Naples Philharmonic. She will work with conductors including Zoltan Kocsis, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Hans Graf, Giancarlo Guerrero, Jun Märkl, Asher Fisch, Ilan Volkov and Alexandre Bloch. In 2015-16 Fliter will perform recitals in London at the Southbank Centre’s International Piano Series, in Stockholm, and in Lisbon.

Winner of the Silver Medal in the 2000 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Ingrid Fliter was awarded the 2006 Gilmore Artist Award, one of only a handful of pianists to have received this honour.

As always with her Chopin, the rewards are great. Playing of real charm, insight and subtlety.

CD Review (BBC Radio 3)

To hear Fliter in Mozart serves as a reminder of what makes her such an inspired interpreter of Chopin…Her playing possesses the instinctive humanity that the music of both composers calls for, and here the limpid touch, tasteful vitality and poise of her performance were entirely apt.

Daily Telegraph

Fliter plays with such grace and heartfelt sincerity... by whatever magical means, [she] touches the heart.
