  • Highlights this season include Kowaljow’s debut at the Salzburg Easter Festival as Wotan Die Walküre under the baton of Christian Thielemann, Verdi Requiem with the London Symphony Orchestra and Gianandrea Noseda at the Lincoln Center, New York, Zaccaria Nabucco for the Bayerische Staatsoper, Münchner Opernfestspiele, and Opéra de Monte-Carlo and Banco Macbeth at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and Teatro Regio di Torino.


    Recent highlights include Kowaljow’s critically acclaimed debut at the Edinburgh Festival as Wotan Das Rheingold with the Mariinsky Opera and Valery Gergiev, Zaccaria Nabucco and Fiesco Simon Boccanegra at the Gran Teatre del Liceu , Padre Guardiano La Forza del Destino and Gremin Eugene Onegin at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Walter Luisa Miller for Zurich Opera and at the Verbier Festival, Banco in a new production of Macbeth for Dutch National Opera, Padre Guardiano La Forza del Destino at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Giorgio I Puritani at the Wiener Staatsoper and Don Alfonso Lucrezia Borgia for San Francisco Opera.


    On the concert platform, recent highlights include Verdi Requiem at the Chorégies d'Orange Festival, and appearances with the orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, San Francisco and Chicago Symphony orchestras. Conductors Kowaljow collaborates regularly with include Daniel Barenboim, Valery Gergiev, Placido Domingo, Nicola Luisotti, Bertrand de Billy and Fabio Luisi.


    Kowaljow’s discography includes La bohème (Deutsche Grammphon, 2008), Leoncavallo's I Medici (Deutsche Grammophon, 2010) and Don Giovanni (Deutsche Grammophon, 2012). He also stars as Colline in a DVD of La bohème, directed by Oscar and Emmy-nominated director Robert Dornhelm. Further DVD releases also include Lucrezia Borgia (Euroarts), Die Walküre (Arthaus Musik) and Nabucco (Sony Music).
