Callum Thorpe returns to Bayerische Staatsoper as Masetto in Don Giovanni
Callum Thorpe returns to the role of Masetto in Stephan Kimmig’s production of Don Giovanni at Bayerische Staatsoper from 5 March 2019. The performance is conducted by James Gaffigan.
Thorpe has been a member of the solo ensemble at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich since 2017 and highlights this season include Erste Nazarene Salome, Zuniga Carmen and Zweiter Gralsritter Parsifal. Further highlights include Marti A Village Romeo & Juliet with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under the baton of Sir Mark Elder, Beethoven Symphony No.9 with Basel Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ivor Bolton and Vivaldi La Senna Festeggiante with Arcangelo at Wigmore Hall.
Performances of Don Giovanni run until 14 March 2019.
Intermusica signs Callum Thorpe for worldwide management
Intermusica is delighted to announce the signing of British bass Callum Thorpe for worldwide management.
Praised for the power and depth of his voice, British bass Callum Thorpe initially pursued a scientific career, obtaining a PhD in Immunology from Imperial College London, before turning to music and studying at the Royal Academy of Music.
Thorpe has been a member of the solo ensemble at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich, since 2017. His recent roles include Zuniga Carmen, Farfallo Die Schweigsame Frau and Truffaldin Ariadne aux Naxos. Upcoming performances in 2018/19 include Masetto Don Giovanni, Erste Nazarene Salome, Zuniga Carmen at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Marti A Village Romeo & Juliet (Concertgebouw, Sir Mark Elder), Beethoven Symphony No.9 (Basel Symphony Orchestra, Ivor Bolton) and Vivaldi’s La Senna Festeggiante (Wigmore Hall, Jonathan Cohen).
