Hubert Zapiór


  • Baritone Hubert Zapiór is currently studying for an Artist Diploma in Opera Studies at The Juilliard School in New York City, where he studies with Edith Wiens. Originally from Brzesko, Poland, he graduated from Fryderyk Chopin University of Music and Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw. He was also a participant of The Opera Academy's Young Talents Development program at Polish National Opera.

  • Zapiór is a recipient of various international competition awards: First Prize Winner at The Giulio Gari Foundation International Vocal Competition, First Prize Winner at the Gerda Lissner Foundation International Voice Competition 2018, Winner of The Career Bridges 2018, Second Prize and Special Prize for the best young talent at the International Giulio Perotti Vocal Competition, Second Prize at the Halina Halska-Fijałkowska International Vocal Competition, Third Prize and Royal Opera House Jette Parker Young Artists Programme, Special Award at the Leyla Gencer Voice Competition and Special Distinction and prize for the youngest finalist at the Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition.

    Since his operatic debut in the title role of Rousseau Der Dorfwahrsager at the Rheinsberger Schlosstheater in 2013, he has appeared in the Polish premieres of Handel Agrippina as Lesbo and Sciarrino Luci mie traditrici as Servo. He performed the title role in Mozart Don Giovanni, sang Conte in Le nozze di Figaro and Prosdocimo in Il Turco in Italia at the Warsaw Chamber Opera.

    Last season, Zapiór made his debut as Papageno in Barrie Kosky’s production of Die Zauberflöte at Polish National Opera in Warsaw, and as Herr Fluth in Nicolai Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor and as Neptune in Rameu Hippolyte et Aricie at the Juilliard Opera in New York City.

    In the 2018/19 season, Zapiór returns to The Juilliard School for his last year of the Artist Diploma in Opera Studies programme and to Polish National Opera where he will sing the role of Papageno in Mozart Die Zauberflöte and make his debut as Marullo in Verdi Rigoletto.
